Now imagine if there was water coming out of that hose at full blast for just about 15 minutes straight without stopping or taking breaks. It would be quite an interesting sight, right? What would happen to the ground where all that water was sprayed? Well, after about 3-5 days of continuous spraying with enough force and pressure from the nozzle, the earth will become saturated with moisture and will start turning into mud! A hose-end sprayer is a container/sprayer nozzle combination tool that allows liquid products to be mixed with water right at the end of a hose. This tool provides a fast and easy way for homeowners to apply liquid gardening products. Though there are some hose-end sprayers that can be used for powdered products, for now we are only going to talk about those meant for liquids only.
A hose-end sprayer is simply a tool that siphons out products from a bottle and mixes the product with water for easy spraying . All hose-end sprayers designed for use with liquid products (not powders or granules) work in a similar fashion.
When you turn the sprayer on, water passes through the spray head on top of the bottle and shoots out the other end. As the water moves through the top of the spray head, it creates a suction or vacuum that siphons the liquid product up the tube to the top of the spray head. There, and not in the bottle , it mixes with the hose water and gets sprayed out. Most hose-end sprayers have a knob or button that allows you to close off the hole on the siphon tube so you can spray water only if desired.
The size of the hole underneath the spray head will determine how many ounces (or teaspoons) of liquid product will be siphoned up for every gallon of water that you spray . Sprayers will have either just one hole underneath, or they will have multiple holes (or settings) that you can choose from.
To use the sprayer, connect the male end of your garden hose to the female accessory inlet on the side of your black tank solution pump. Run water through the pump until it is filled with clean water before you start spraying. Connect your garden hose to the threaded adapter on top of the tank solution pump. Turn off all valves after you are finished spraying and disconnect hoses from the pump.
Wash any tools or surfaces that have come in contact with raw sewage immediately. Use bleach mixed with water (1 ounce bleach to 1 gallon water) to disinfect these tools or surfaces. Spray down any surfaces that sewage may have splashed onto, including wheel wells and undercarriage, then rinse well with a strong stream of water. Do not allow bleach to dry on any surface or it can eat away at paint and metal. Dispose of the old solution in your grey tank by using a sewer hookup or dumping station.
