The "Secure and Verifiable Identity Document Act " requires applicants for licensure to submit an Affidavit of Citizenship and a secure and verifiable document regarding their United States' citizenship status.
So you are going to complete what is known as the VERIFIABLE DOCUMENT. You are swearing that all information on this application is true, and that you understand the laws and regulations of the Board must always be followed. You are also clarifying that if you submit false information or if you did not disclose any felonies that the Board may suspend your license without notification,
You also must either verify that you are a United States citizen OR are a legal permanent resident of the United States
You must also confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and must submit what is known as a Secure and Verifiable document.
This can be an unexpired drivers license, or unexpired state id card, an unexpired US Passport, or an unexpired military id card, an unexpired tribal identification card, an unexpired US permanent resident card or alien registration receipt card, or birth certificate or any other documentation that is approved under OCGA 50-36-1f1 and by the way OCGA stands for Official Code of Georgia Annotated, which is current Georgia state law. This form must also be notarized.
You must have the Zoning Verification form signed by the Zoning Commissioner for the area that you are opening your dealership in. This could either be a city zoning commissioner is your dealership is located in a city, or a county zoning commissioner if your dealership will be located in a county. You will need to visit the zoning office in your city or your county to have this form signed. This form shows the Board that the building you are using for your dealers license meets all zoning requirements. Remember you cannot have a dealership in an area that is not zoned for the operation of a dealership, it must be zoned to allow the sale of motor vehicles. This form must be notarized as well.
Now you see your dealer surety bond. This page will need to be completed by your bonding company or perhaps you have purchased your bond from an insurance agent. This bond must be signed and you must include the Power of Attorney from the bonding company as well, don’t forget your signed bond AND the power of attorney, both documents must be submitted with your dealer license application.
And as it says at the bottom of this form, the dealer surety bond may NEVER expire while your dealer license is in effect, all dealers must be bonded during the entire licensure period, you can never let your bond expire if you have an active dealers license.
You can download all the forms that are used in your dealer training course including this dealer application by visiting Georgiadealer.com scroll down on any page and click on the Georgia Dealer Forms link.
Then just click on the Georgia Dealer Application Link to download the dealer application we just completed. We will always try to keep all these links on the website current so you will always be downloading the latest updated forms.
The initial application fee is $170 if you are opening an additional lot it is also $170, when you are renewing your license the renewal fee is $150, if you renew your license after it expires but before May 31 of an even year you will pay $20, i you renew your license after it expires and the May 31 it will be administratively revoked and will require a $420 reinstatement fee. Be sure you submit your dealer license renewal BEFORE it expires on March 31 or even years otherwise you will pay additional fees to renew your license. So you want to make sure you have completed your SIX hours of continuing education in order to renew your dealer license in a timely manor once it comes time to renew
The dealer plate order form is known as Form MV-6, and you must complete it to order dealer license plates.
Obviously you will enter your dealership name, what you are doing business as remember that is your DBA, your email and full legal name and business address, then you will enter your Georgia Tax ID Number, your business or occupation license number that was obtained from the city or county that your dealership is in, then you see here where it asks for your Georgia Used Motor Vehicle Dealer or Parts dealer number. If you are submitting your dealer license application for the first time, you obviously do not yet have a dealer number, so in that case you would just leave that section blank. However, lets say you apply for your license, and THEN apply for dealer plates later on and you HAVE a dealer license number then you would enter your dealer license number or what is sometimes referred to as a UCAR number. And if you are a dealer of manufactured homes you would need your Fire Marshall number which will probably not apply to most persons that are watching this video. Enter your contact persons name and phone number
And before we move on, here you see the dealer license plate fees. As you can see your main plate which is referred to as your master plate costs $62 and any additional plates will cost $12 and at the bottom of this screen you see the mailing fees for the dealers license plates that is based upon the number of plates that you are ordering.
You will select what type of plate you are ordering, lets say for this training scenario you are ordering a full size DEALER PLATE, or you could select motorcycle plate for motorcycles or other plates, you will then check the type of dealer license you are applying for, most of you will be applying for a Independent Dealers License which allows the sale of used motor vehicle, then check what type of dealer you will be, you will either be an auto auction company if you are opening a dealer only auction, or an auto broker, remember auto brokers must have a used motor vehicle dealer license, or a retail dealer, or a wholesale dealer, so lets say you are going to be a RETAIL dealer for this training scenario.
And at the bottom of this dealer plate order form you will enter any additional plates, and the cool thing about this FORM MV-6 is that it will automatically calculate the fees based on the number of dealer plates you are ordering, so you cannot make mistakes when calculating the additional plate fees and mailing fees.
Finally you will need to read and agree to the terms and print your name, sign your name, and date FORM MV -6
And here the back of FORM MV-6 you will see instructions so if you have any questions about how to complete the form, just read the back page of the form for extensive instructions.
